For over 14 years, Thomas Matia has dedicated his entire career to working with medical and dental professionals — and he’s become one of the most trusted names in the disability insurance space. His approachable style, deep expertise, and genuine care for the people he works with have earned him long-standing relationships with students, residents, and practicing professionals across the country.

Thomas is well known for his exclusive Guaranteed Standard Issue (GSI) disability insurance program at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), a highly competitive and valuable benefit that sets him apart in the industry. He also maintains strong relationships with many other schools throughout the Southeast.

After years of helping early-career professionals secure critical income protection, Thomas saw a clear need: his clients needed more than just insurance — they needed a team. That vision led him to co-found Triage Financial alongside Reagan Wolfe, with the goal of giving doctors and dentists access to coordinated, holistic financial planning that goes far beyond a single product or transaction.

Today, Thomas continues to focus on disability insurance while introducing his clients to the broader Triage Financial planning team — ensuring they’re supported in every aspect of their financial life.

Thomas lives in Atlanta with his wife, Malissa, and their two daughters, Scarlett and Audrey. When he’s not working, you’ll find him on the tennis court, reading a great book, spending time on the water, or crafting something delicious in the kitchen — he’s known to be an excellent cook.
